How to Maintain Vehicle

Check Spare Tyre

In case of emergency or flat tyre you can use your spare tyre to carry on your journey. Once in a month check the air pressure in the spare tyre.

Change Engine Oil Periodically

Change the engine oil every 5,000 kilometres or follow your car manufacturer’s recommendations for changing the engine oil.

Keep the Battery Clean.

Test your battery twice a year and inspect it for corrosion. If you see any corrosion or dust on the connectors, open them to clean and then reconnect it.

Replace the Brake Pads

Keep checking the brake fluid on regular interval. Check the brake fluid every time you change the oil to be sure it’s not dark in colour. If it is, you’ll need to change the brake system sooner rather than later. Check the brake pads, if they have worn out, replace them with new sets immediately. Driving with loose brakes can be extremely dangerous.

Replace Cabin Air Filter

It is highly recommended to change your cabin air filter every one year or 12,000 kilometres. Refer to your vehicle instruction manual for more details about changing air filter.

Get New Windshield Wipers

Old windshield wipers will create problem as you would not be able to see properly during rain as the wiper blades will not be able to clean windshield leaving water droplets behind. Change windshield wipers at the change of each season and replace them when necessary.

Get Your Tyres Rotated

At every 5,000 kilometres, or as specified in your vehicle instruction manual, go for wheel alignment and balancing. At the time of doing so rotate tyres. This will keep maintaining the tread of the tyres evenly in front and rear and also maintain proper alignment of the tyres and will help enhancing tyre's life.

Check the Suspension System

Unwanted jerks in a journey can spoil your and other passenger’s mood. After every 15,000 to 30,000 kilometres run get your shocks and suspension checked

Check Coolant

It is a good idea to check your coolant on regular basis. With low coolant level it may create excessive engine temperature or engine heating issues. Coolant also has a shelf life. If your vehicle has ample coolant level, please get it checked at the service centre whether it is effective or not.

Check Spark Plugs

Check and change the spark plugs about every 30,000 kilometres or refer to vehicle instruction manual for further details according to make and model of your vehicle.

Inspect Belts and Hoses

Timing belts is very important to keep your engine rotating at regular pace. Change your engine’s timing belt after running of every 50,000 kilometres. It is recommended that you change your hoses in every three to four years or whenever one is showing signs of wear.

Keep Necessary Tools

Keep necessary tool kit in your vehicle. A standard tool kit is supplied by every vehicle manufacturer when you purchase a new vehicle. Even if you are buying a pre-owned vehicle, make sure it has the tool kit. The kit includes tools like screw driver, wrench, jack, reflective triangle etc.
